Howard Stern, Robin Quivers and Billy Joel if SiriusXM Cutting Room Monday.
Howard Stern and Billy Joel captivated a lucky audience of only 100 people with a talk / intimate concert for SiriusXM Satellite Radio standard " Town Hall " on Monday afternoon.
Guests were invited to a secret location, which happened to be Cutting Room on E. 32nd St., at noon for a three-hour talk between the two and, of course, always present companion Stern, Robin Quivers. Not perform were Idina Menzel , Rosa and Melissa Etheridge , who rocked the house with a sexy version of " Only the Good Die Young. "
The version of Etheridge, Joel said captured perfectly perfectly, had slotted into it. When finished, Joel told the crowd that sang as he likes.
"There’s something inherently reggae [comprising] and she became very dirty, like it's supposed to be," Joel said.
After bringing the crowd to its feet, Etheridge was discovered by Confidenti @ l sitting in the crowd, receiving hugs and congratulations from long-term partner and his girlfriend Linda Wallem.
Throughout the series, Joel dropped fun stuff for the public, as well as how they approached Elton John AIDS in a benefit for a talk "The Godfather" , after a yearlong fight, and how wrote "Summer , Highland Falls, " to try to describe the feeling of manic depression.
Joel took questions from the audience, including one from Rachael Ray who asked that her favorite "Piano Man" is. Joel told the crowd that his idol is Ray Charles, and that when
"He said to relax," Joel told the crowd. “It’s intimidating; I want to say I am in awe of this guy.”
Rosa, with her husband Carey Hart on Sunday, performed at the Cutting Room talk with Howard Stern and Billy Joel.
The singer of “Captain Jack" spoke of some songs he has written misunderstood as " Scandinavian Skies" , which was the only time he tried heroin.
"It scared me," he said.
Rosa, who was sitting next to his father, a Vietnam veteran, Jim Moore, sang a duet with Joel for “She’s Always a Woman”, while her father filmed proudly from the audience. Your motocross hubby Carey Hart celebrated his 2 year old daughter, Willow, from the shadows in the back of the room, waving to his wife during her performance.
During the three hours, the King of All Media and the Piano Man, both natives of Long Island, covering everything from hair loss to Joel (which is fine with him ) for their dinners together.
"I like it because I like and I go," said Joel Stern, Howard agreed with the two- sixties tires simultaneously, which works for both.
Stern 's wife , Beth, beamed as he took pictures of her husband in the crowd , which also included super agent Don Buchwald Stern ; Boys II Men , who took the stage to sing " The Longest Time" ; and singing legend Tony Bennett , who performed " New York State of Mind" with Joel on the piano.
